FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Why is mindfulness beneficial during my massage? Mindfulness is simply inhabiting your body with awareness and an open heart. The invitation will be to notice what is present here & now; to let go of the past and the future. Research has proven that mindfulness can reduce stress, anxiety, depression and fear. Evidence also shows that mindfulness can lower blood pressure and improve sleep quality. Teaching yourself to pay attention mindfully to your body greatly supports the process of healing & health.


What are the benefits of integrative relaxation mindful massage? You are invited to check in with your body and set your intention for the session. Common benefits of integrative relaxation mindful massage include: calming feelings of anxiety & fear, stress reduction, improved circulation of lymph and blood, increased awareness of body & mind, emotional release, integration of safe touch, pain management to include improved function of muscles & joints, and improved sleep quality.


Do you offer 'Couples Massages'? Yes, couples/duos have two choices when booking. Indulge in the 150 Minute 'Just Be Together' Session, a decadent couple/duo package that includes personalized relaxation through (2) Custom Integrative Relaxation Mindful Massages and Sound Therapy Sessions. Immerse yourself in a blissful atmosphere with added elements such as aromatherapy, herbal tea, and a reflection space featuring a Himalayan Salt Detox Foot Dome, creating a truly unforgettable experience. Or, the other options is to book (2)  massages on the same day with back to back time slots, based on availability. Just Be is a private practice with one massage therapist, Brooke Swango.


Will you offer 'Off-site/Mobile Massage' at my cabin/vacation rental? No. I look forward to supporting your health & wellness in the tranquil setting of my studio.


Can you accommodate 'Groups'? At this time, Just Be is a private practice with one massage therapist, Brooke Swango. Based on availability, I can accommodate 3-4 individual sessions per day, or 2 'Just Be Together' experiences (4 people total).


How should I prepare for my massage? Arrive 10-15 minutes early so that you have time to settle into the space, complete forms, use the restroom, etc. Drink water prior to your session. Minimize/avoid caffeine. Eat a small meal/snack. Leave your cell phone behind, or power-off/Airplane mode prior to entering the treatment room. No alcohol or smoking. Ensure cleanliness & hygiene with a shower and deodorant. No strong scents such as perfumes/cologne/scented oils, cigarette smoke, cannabis, excessive body odor.


Can you help me with physical pain in my body?  My main goal is to help calm your body & mind, increase your body awareness, and relieve tension in your body. As your whole body lets go, so too will the tensions and contractions.  There are many massage modalities and therapists with different skill sets to help you with your goals. Medical massage, physical therapy, acupuncture and chiropractic work are great tools to assist with chronic pain, acute injuries, and post-surgery rehabilitation.

 

Will I be undressed during my massage? You will be able to choose to undress to your comfort level, and I will use skillful draping techniques to protect your modesty and the private areas of your body. Relaxation massage most commonly uses lotions & oils directly on your skin, with long gliding strokes.


Will we talk during the session? The invitation will be to rest your body & mind. I will offer guided verbal mindfulness techniques at select limited times during your session, such as breathwork and visualization. Communication is encouraged from you regarding your comfort and preferences; please let me know if anything feels unpleasant, or if things could be just a little better. But overall, the focus will be on relaxing enough to pay attention, with minimal words exchanged.


Can I upgrade to a deep tissue massage or sports massage? I will assess your individual needs, and offer a variety of pressures from light to firm, joint mobilization, and stretching, while maintaining body & mind relaxation. Effective deep tissue and sports massage typically require a series of tests & measurements, require constant communication, and may feel unpleasant at times; please contact a Physical Therapist, Medical/Sports Massage Therapist, or Chiropractor for these needs.  Here at Just Be, we will explore other ways to effectively relieve pain, while remaining aware and relaxed.


Do you offer pre-natal massage? Yes! Please communicate your unique needs, and I will happily care for you and your baby.


Do you offer massage to minors under the age of 18? No. Currently massage is only offered to individuals 18 & over.


Do you offer upgrades such as hot stones or cupping? Not currently.


Is it okay to get a massage if I am sick with a contagious illness or skin condition? If you have a contagious illness, such as a cold or flu, you must cancel/reschedule your appointment (no fees will apply). Regarding contagious skin conditions, your massage therapist may be able to where gloves and/or avoid the local area; please consult prior to appointment.


Do you offer massage to individuals with terminal and/or chronic illness? Yes, research has found that massage can help reduce pain, improve sleep, and calm feelings such as anxiety & fear, for those actively experiencing suffering. We will communicate about your specific needs clearly, and I am willing to work closely with your physician.


Do you offer geriatric massage? Yes. In some cases, it may be necessary for a caregiver to be present. I am not able to move people on/off the massage table, assist with medications, or dress people.


What are your hours of operation? Sessions are by appointment only (no walk-ins), and hours vary. You may check availability by pressing the ' Click to Reserve Now', or call/text.


POLICIES:

Odors & Hygiene For safety and consideration of others, the following policies apply: Your body and clothing should be respectfully clean. No perfumes/colognes/scented oils. No odors of cigarette or cannabis smoking. If you present with odors and/or hygiene concerns that may negatively impact others, your session will be cancelled and full fee will apply.


Late If you arrive late for your session, we will still proceed with your appointment. The scheduled end time and fee will remain the same.


Cancellation You may cancel 48 hours or more in advance with a full refund. Cancellations within 48 hours will be charged a $50 cancellation fee.


Reschedule You may reschedule 48 hours or more in advance with no additional fees. Late rescheduling within 48 hours will be treated the same as a cancellation, and you will be charged a $50 cancellation fee.


No Show If no attempt is made prior to your session start time to cancel or reschedule with Just Be, full fees will apply.
